PORT NEWS: New SUNsational Porter Program |
SUNsational Program Trains Porters at Port Everglades
Sailing from Port Everglades? Then you may encounter porters dedicated to providing "SUNsational Service," thanks to a new training program. It's a joint effort of Port Everglades, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau, Southeast Florida Employers Port Association, cruise stevedoring companies at the port and the International Longshoremen's Association.
Approximately 800 cruise ship baggage handlers from ILA Local #1526 will receive "SUNsational Service training for Professional Porters" over the next four weeks.
The two-hour course teaches customer service excellence and includes role play training for specific scenarios porters may encounter with cruise guests.
At the course completion, porters like Joe Williams, shown at left, receive a SUNsational lapel pin. Call 954-767-2476.
